Be part of Creative Week Cape Town

When you live in a city inspired by the 3 Cs (connect, create, collaborate), a week is not nearly enough to celebrate local creativity and innovation. So Creative Week Cape town is now nine days long. A legacy event for Cape Town’s World Design Capital 2014 bid, Creative Week Cape Town is in its second year of supporting and extending the arts and minds that make this a marvellous place to work and play in 2011. Mark 9 – 18 September 2011 in your diary, and make the most out of a dedicated movement to promote your party or project or play or app design or…

…wait a minute, what IS Creative Week Cape Town, anyway?

Creative Week a confluence of influence and inspiration and it includes everyone and almost everything that’s happening in Cape Town 9 – 18 September 2011. For more than seven days, Creative Week offers itself as a platform for promoting a city abuzz with beautiful things to see and do, and new ways to meet, greet and get down with the people of Cape Town.

During its inaugural Week in 2010, Creative Cape Town slipped something called “Creative Week Cape Town” under the wings of its good friend the Loeries and called all creative practitioners to participate. This year, Creative Week is flying with the Loeries once more, and we want you involved.

Creative Week 2011 – bigger, brighter and bolder

Creative Week already has some amazing events confirmed.

The first City Hall Music Series sees Brazil’s Chico Cesar in an on-stage collaboration with DRC’s Ray Lema, as well as the vocal talents of our national treasure Thandiswa Mazwai and the cunning and accomplished compositions of Kesivan and The Lights in a beautiful building that belongs to everybody.

The Creative Cape Town Annual will be launched, the winners of the Goematronics Remix Competition announced and some divine design events are lined up.

The Fringe will be beautified with meaningful and helpful detail from established and apprentice mural artists working with Charly’s Bakery and CPUT, a District Six walking tour will tell a tale of a space steeped history and transition, a music documentary mini film fest will celebrate sound on screen,

The Fringe is also Creative Week Cape Town’s central hub, and will be the location of many of the above-mentioned events.

Oh, and about the 3 Cs that define us? We’re not completely unaware that Cape Town is also a bit showy. As in, we like to show off, showcase, show everyone a good time.  That’s the spirit of Creative Week, and there’s a day (or a night) waiting for you to claim it. So come along – connect, create, collaborate. It’s your city.
