Creative Arts Fellowships

1212_gipcaThe Gordon Institute for Creative and Performing Arts (GIPCA) at UCT has made a call for prestigious creative fellowships. GIPCA is an innovative institution at UCT promoting new interdisciplinary creative research in the disciplines of Music, Dance, Fine Art, Drama, Film and Media, and Creative Writing, and in particular collaborations among disciplines. Interdisciplinary is a key theme of the institute, defined here as consisting of two or more disciplines, with at least one a participating GIPCA department at UCT.

Applications should be made by individuals who graduated after 2003 with Masters Degrees in any discipline in the performing and creative arts. Fellows will work in the relevant departments and be involved in the creative research life of university staff and students. Each year-long fellowship must culminate in a creative project of the fellow’s design. Four fellowships are available of R120 000 each.

Submit a proposal with a detailed CT and contact details of three referees to fin-gipca@uct.ac.za before the due date. All applications should be emailed or delivered to GIPCA, Hiddingh Hall, University of Cape Town Hiddingh Campus, 31-37 Orange Street, Cape Town.

Deadline for applications: 22 October 2009. Notification of results: 15 November 2009. Fellowship starting date: February 2010.
