On 9 June, the Cape Town Design Network 2010 meets again as part of the Creative Cape Town Clusters programme. This event is focussed on graphic design and features a well known designer and a design agency.
Bruno Morphet of Plan B Design was trained in graphic design in an informal programme at the Michaelis School of Fine Art. He graduated in 1994, winning the Michaelis Prize for his final year exhibition. Since then he has been working as a graphic designer largely in the corporate advertising world in a variety of different companies, but recently struck out on his own as Plan B Design, working on everything from financial institutions to record labels.
Fanatical about music as well as typography, Bruno also has a second career as a DJ, and finds himself incorporating his design aesthetic into his night-time pursuits, designing visual communication for many of his own events as well as those of many of his peers.
When not consumed with corporate identities or spinning discs, Bruno also finds time to write for publications like the Mail and Guardian amongst others.
Tabatha King, the Managing Director of Coley Porter Bell, began her career as a copywriter at Ogilvy 15 years ago. As a Director of Ogilvy, she worked on great brands such as South African Tourism, DStv, Coca-Cola, Avis, Unilever, SAB Miller, Nestle, Old Mutual, Nike and KFC, across the global network.
As much as she loved the advertising world, she finally saw the light and entered the beautiful world of design by launching Coley Porter Bell South Africa.
In less than 2 years CPB SA have built a wonderful client base including Cape Town Tourism, SAB Miller, Optimal Energy (SA’s first electric car), Edward Snell & Co, BP and Spier. Specialists in total design, CPB make brands beautiful through identity, packaging, spacial design, retail and merchandising.
The event starts at 17h30 and will be held at Primedia Broadcasting, Suite 7D, 2nd Floor, Somerset Square, Highfield Road, Green Point. Please RSVP to bronwyn@capetownpartnership.co.za to ensure you do not have to sign in at security. Parking is provided in the Primedia parking space for those arriving before 6pm.
Come along, learn about your fellow creatives and network with like-minded folks.
