@ Long Street, Cape Town

When do people you’ve never met before run across the road to wrap you in a happy hug? When do total strangers stop you and offer you a sip of their something? When does a street reserved for late night traffic jams erupt into a pedestrian only, tented village of pumping parties? Loeries Weekend on Long Street.Which is the right time to let practicality prevail and leave your inhibitions and uncomfortable shoes at home.
After a nerve-wracking and beautifully big Loeries Awards Ceremony at the Good Hope Centre, lots and lots of professionals found themselves transformed into party animals and got lost in the street. Accordingly, to meet their needs, the Top of Long Street became a village, with music pumping out of every doorway, through every plastic window and overflowing like a sonic waterfall from every available balcony.
It started early, it went on late, and maybe it didn’t stop at all the whole weekend. Certainly the tales the morning after suggest that some sizzled souls got up to good mischief and made the most of the madness that is the Advertising industry..er..unwinding?
