While Cape Town got ready for the event of the year – the Final Draw on December 4 – members of the Long Street Association joined the party by decorating pots outside their stores.
The Central City Improvement District donated 44 pots (with plants) to members of the association and they hit the ground running with their creative ideas to decorate them. Themes and ideas abounded.
The Bead Shop did it with beads, Jo’burg bar painted the Johannesburg skyline (but also the mountain!) on their pot and Masala Dosa decided to colour theirs pink. Lola’s decided that pots alone won’t do it for them, and did a complete makeover of their coffee shop and bar (with daisies on the ceiling!) – all in the space of a couple of days!
Many stores went the extra mile to decorate their exteriors – and never before has a street seen so many big, bright, coloured soccer balls hanging from so many different balconies and rooftops.
By the time the Big Draw eventually took place, the buzz on Long Street had reached fever pitch. Capetonians did not disappoint with their enthusiasm for a big party and, bar the odd cellphone disappearing, the event went just according to plan.

Was really amazing how everyone on Long Street got together and worked together, with each other and CID. Was an amazing experience, and really looking forward to a long and brilliant relationship.
Well done to all for a stunning party on Friday
