Winning by design

By now it’s big news – Cape Town has been shortlisted for World Design Capital 2014.

What does this mean for the city? It means we’re putting ourselves on the international design map, promoting Cape Town as a creative capital, and continuing to create a city that serves its people. Cause enough to celebrate? There’s more.

The judges’ visit next week has the city a buzz in preparation for a concentrated tour centred on the bid theme, “Live Design, Transform Life”. From 24 to 26 July, our ICSID visitors will enjoy a guided tour of the city’s finest design and development innovations, and Cape Town will be wearing yellow to celebrate.

Part of the celebration is happening at the city’s premier live and electronic music venue, The Assembly, co-hosted by Design Indaba and Cape Town Design Network. Join Ravi Naidoo (Design Indaba CEO and the event’s keynote speaker) and design enthusiasts as a new Design Indaba Trust competition is announced and the benefits of being World Design Capital are discussed.
